Caring for the Carer

Getting the right balance

Jane attends her GP with persisting pain after a fall while trying to care for her husband George.

He's not present in the consultation but his presence is felt in Jane's description of her symptoms.

We find out through the last segment of the clip that her treatment options are complicated by her ongoing Blood Pressure and Polymyalgia medications.

What does this mean for you? How would you proceed?

Her priority is pain control, how can this be reconciled with the GP's potential other priorities?

Do these risks take priority over her carer duties?

George's interests aren't helped if she is left under-treated or under-investigated.

How do we care for the Carer?
